Support
MonoBar is made by one person. Support is honest and best-effort — usually quick, never guaranteed by an SLA. Here's how to get unstuck fast.
Start with the docs
Most questions are answered on one page: Docs — requirements, setup, status and history, notifications, Pro activation, troubleshooting, updating, and uninstalling. Release history lives in the Changelog.
Common quick answers
- MonoBar shows nothing happening: monitoring starts paused by design. Open the menu-bar dashboard and press Start.
- Checks fail behind a firewall: allow MonoBar outgoing connections in Little Snitch, LuLu, or your firewall of choice.
- Is my monitoring data somewhere in a cloud? No — your monitored websites and services, settings, and check history stay in
~/Library/Application Support/MonoBar/on your Mac. A Direct Pro entitlement is stored separately in Keychain; Polar keeps the purchase and activation records needed to manage the license. See Privacy. - Is this 24/7 monitoring? No. Scheduled checks and notifications require your Mac to be awake, MonoBar to be running, and monitoring to be active. Manual checks are deliberate exceptions while paused.
Contact
Email support@monobar.app. Include:
- MonoBar version and build number—open Settings → General → Updates → Installed—and your macOS version. In Finder, Get Info remains a fallback.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
- The exact error text, if any
Please redact private URLs, IP addresses, or history entries before sending screenshots — MonoBar keeps your data local, and support email shouldn't be the exception.
For app setup, monitoring, or activation errors after your key arrives, contact MonoBar Support. Polar handles checkout, billing, tax, receipts, refund requests, missing purchase emails, license delivery, and hosted purchase or license recovery at support@polar.sh. Never email anyone your full license key.
If Pro is active on a reachable Mac, use Deactivate This Mac before completing a refund where practical. A refund can prevent future activation, but it cannot immediately reach an already-activated offline Mac because MonoBar performs no recurring license checks.
MonoBar 1.0 has no update checker. Quit it before manually replacing it with MonoBar 1.2. Downgrading from 1.1 to 1.0 is not supported on macOS 14; preserve your local data and contact Support instead of reinstalling 1.0.
Security issues
Please report suspected security problems privately to security@monobar.app — not in public threads. See Security for what MonoBar does and doesn't claim.
