Changelog
Public releases only, newest first. Version numbers are boring on purpose.
1.2.0 (33) — September 29, 2026
MonoBar 1.2 uses macOS's own menu-bar window for smoother, more reliable behavior, with a simpler site picker and a cleaner look. Free and Pro features are unchanged. Requires macOS 14 or later.

1.1.0 (23) — September 12, 2026
MonoBar 1.1 adds optional Pro, letting you monitor up to 25 websites and 10 additional supported status services with native status-change notifications. It also adds Open at Login, clearer setup guidance, and signed Direct update checks while keeping normal operation menu-bar-only. Service Status shows explicit maintenance separately and does not notify for maintenance alone.
MonoBar
- MonoBar remains free for one website, bundled official services, and current core history.
- Service Status replaces Provider Status, with catalog-first setup and support for Statuspage, Instatus, and exact Slack status pages.
- Website setup, Settings, and manual checks have been refined.
- Optional Open MonoBar at Login starts the same app quietly with monitoring paused.
- Version and build are now visible from the menu-bar icon and under Settings → General → Updates.
- Fixed a macOS 14 startup-reliability issue that could prevent MonoBar 1.0 from opening.
MonoBar Pro
- Monitor up to 25 websites and 10 additional supported status services.
- Receive native local notifications when website or service status changes.
- Activate or deactivate a Direct Pro license explicitly; the local Keychain entitlement works offline after activation.
Updates
- MonoBar 1.1 can optionally check signed availability information from monobar.app. It never downloads, installs, replaces, or relaunches the app.
- MonoBar 1.0 has no update client. Existing users must quit MonoBar and manually replace it with version 1.1.

The same app and download provide MonoBar and MonoBar Pro. Scheduled monitoring requires an awake Mac, the app running, and monitoring active.
1.0.0 (13) — July 29, 2026
The first public release.
MonoBar
- Monitor one website from your Mac menu bar: current status, response time, sampled uptime, response history, and recent checks.
- Optional Provider Status: official Anthropic and OpenAI status feeds, off by default.
- Local-first by design: no account, no telemetry, no cloud dashboard. Configuration and history stay on your Mac.
- HTTPS-only monitoring with strict redirect and destination safeguards.
- Numbers, times, and durations follow your system's region format.
Historical artifact: MonoBar-1.0.0-macos.zip (~1.9 MB). Superseded by MonoBar 1.1; not a supported macOS 14 rollback.

Requirements: Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later
Known limitations: checks run while MonoBar is open and monitoring is active — this is a local companion, not a 24/7 external service. Updates are a manual download; new versions are announced here.
